Dwight Varsity Baseball 2022, A New Outlook

Over this spring season, Dwight has brought back the baseball team for the first time in a couple of years. With a strong presence of baseball players in the Dwight community, the team was full of all types of players on the first day. The team went straight into practices at Roberto Clemente State Park, four times a week. With a strong practice schedule, the team was very hopeful for a great season. Many of the members of the team were upperclassmen, which provided several opportunities for leadership among the team. The Lions had a great start to their season, winning 12-2 in their first matchup. Some star players included Harry Litman as the role of leader and he kept the team focused. Michael Kolodny lead the team in stolen bases this game and even stole home plate! This impressive feat gave the team momentum and helped them keep their energy up and was a great way to start the season. Oliver Teitelbaum, a junior, started the season at 1st base! This game was an extremely successful game. The team gave every game their best shot, and their teamwork was the strongest attribute of this team. Their work together led to a lot of bonds even off the playing field. However, after a long season, the team didn’t make the playoffs. The team will continue to practice over the summer periodically, and at the start of next year in order to be prepared for the next season. Next season is looking extremely promising as the team has already spent a season together. Seniors will have to take the roles as leaders and lead the Lions to a baseball championship. Although playoffs weren’t made, the team had a great season and enjoyed all of their games.
