Can Social Media be a Career?

Over the last decade, social media has produced jobs and dramatically transformed people’s lives all over the world. Not only has social media produced corporate jobs, such as working for Tik Tok, Instagram, or Facebook, and also created jobs such as social media manager, video editors, graphic designer, and social media advertising managers and made them more accessible. Social media has also given people the platform to make themselves a brand. Social media influencers are people who have a high number of followers on their social media accounts and use that following to influence or persuade people to buy specific items or services.

What constitutes a good social media influencer? As someone who grew up in a generation where influencers had a significant impact on my youth, I have a few ideas. The most essential thing you can do is figure out what makes you happy and what you’re excellent at. It might be music, lifestyle videos, art, video games, or anything else. Many individuals will be interested in your stuff if you are sufficiently motivated and authentic. Following that, I believe one must identify the appropriate platforms for their niche. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other social media platforms are examples. I believe that being active on multiple platforms makes it is easier to gain a following. After you’ve discovered a suitable platform, you must post on a regular basis. Each site has its unique algorithm, but they all have one thing in common: they reward users who post on a regular basis. Interacting with your fans is another critical stage in obtaining followers. They will lose interest if they realize you don’t care. That is why it is critical to maintaining as much interaction with them as possible. Finally, keeping up with all of the current trends is a simple method to get fans. If you stay current, your video has a far better chance of reaching a wider audience.

If you’re able to gain traction and fans, social media can be a career. However, many influencers that gain their celebrity from a viral video often struggle to maintain the same level of engagement from their viewers. This makes it extremely challenging to maintain a career on social media, often causing those trying to gain status and fame to perform more and more dramatic stunts to achieve their original highs. Social media can be a slippery slope, but if you are motivated and driven, it’s possible to become a career.
